Children
Age 3 to Grade 5
For Children, Learning Hour classes will be offered for the following age levels:
- Three- and Four-Year-Olds
- Kindergarten to Grade 2
- Grade 3 to Grade 5
The Children’s Learning Hour will begin at 9:45 with a brief assembly—a song, a prayer, and maybe something a little different—in room 103; then, the three age-level groups will go their own ways for the rest of the hour. We’ll continue to use the curriculum Seasons of the Spirit, a Reformed curriculum that is organized around the seasons of the church year and provides solid biblical learning in ways that employ all the senses.
Refresher
Are you looking to find out more about our church? How we are organized, what our "ministry" structure is? More about Presbyterians, what we believe, and why?
A series of five classes will be led by Rev. Mark Stanley, covering some of the basics of the faith of Christian life, the distinctiveness of Presbyterianism, and our particular heritage and traditions at Trinity. Our meetings will take place on Sunday mornings each March, during the Learning Hour, in the Trinity Room. They are open to all members, newly joined, and longtime members alike. The only prerequisite is a smidgen of curiousity! If you're interested, please keep an eye out for the next session.
More Learning Opportunities
What Does the Lord Require? A Study of Micah 6:8
Micah 6:8 is understood by many as a central biblical principle for how to live as one of God's own. Do Justice, Love Kindness. Walk humbly with your God. This three-session study explores this well-known and much-loved text to learn of its far reaching meaning for life. The text has stood the test of time and has more to teach then may be visible on the surface.
This study, led by Dwight Christenbury, and open to all, will be held at Trinity on three Mondays - August 11, 18 and 25 from 10 am to 11:15 am.
Moms and More
Join this group of Christian women who want to strengthen their faith and their families for fellowship and learning. Meeting are Wednesdays during the Friends of Jesus childrens program. This fall we will continue a study of The Power of a Praying Parent by Stormie Omartian. Contact Deanna Bennett with questions.
Two Thousand Years: The History of Christianity
Have you ever wondered how the church we know and love came to be? This year’s Wonderful Wednesday program will include (roughly once a month) a recurring film discussion series, Two Thousand Years: The History of Christianity. Each episode, beautifully filmed and thought-provoking, covers a century of the history of Christianity in about 25 minutes, leaving plenty of time for discussion.
- September 24, “The Birth of a New Religion: Christianity in the First Century”
- October 22, “The Birth of a New Religion: Christianity in the Second Century”
- November 12, “Trials and Triumphs in Rome: Christianity in the Third Century”
- January 28, “Trials and Triumphs in Rome: Christianity in the Fourth Century”
- March 11, “African Ascetics and Celtic Monks: Christianity in the Fifth Century”
- April 22, “African Ascetics and Celtic Monks: Christianity in the Sixth Century”
As you can see, we’ll be taking this journey at a leisurely pace! So mark your calendars and plan to join us for dinner, a movie, and some good conversation (dinners, 5:30 to 6:30; film series, 6:30 to 7:30). If you can be there every time, that’s the best way to get the “big picture”—but if not, please come when you can; each episode stands alone and is interesting in and of itself.
