Hunger Walk
September is the month that Church Members Walk for Hunger. It is when we confront one of the hidden realities of our prosperous community, hunger amidst our own folks. That’s the bad news, the good news is that church folk are doing something about it. Trinity members, including many of our youth, will raise funds to support our partners at Interfaith Assistance Ministries, The Rescue Mission, MANNA Food Bank, Mainstay, Salvation Army, Council on Aging, and five other agencies as they serve the hungry of our county. Walk with us if you can, or sponsor our walkers with a donation, and we’ll give all the glory to the One who sponsors us. Last year we raised over $85,000. Walkers meet at Jackson Park at 7:30 am on September 20 and will walk five miles. Call Don Hauck at 697-5087, Chuck Leaverton at 890-5838 or the church office to volunteer to be a walker or a sponsor. “Lord, when did we see you Hungry?” Matt 25:44
Global Missions Ministry is looking for new members!
Trinity has long prided itself for its involvement in missions outside of Henderson County (Local Missions covers Henderson County). This involvement, however, does not just happen - we need to approve new requests, evaluate ongoing programs and learn of the Presbytery’s/PCUSA’s mission opportunities. We meet once monthly on the third Tuesday in the Trinity Room at 7:00 p.m. If you can spare the time, I can promise you a special opportunity to serve in God’s missions. Call Glenn Walker at 891-2486.
Guatemala Missioin Trip
The Guatemala Committee is considering a mission trip to Fuente de Vida in late December 2008 through early January 2009. We would like to know if any other members of the congregation are interested in going. Please call Carole Ball, 692-8774 or Bev Luzadder, 890-4404 if you would consider a mission trip to Guatemala. Learn more about our work in Guatemala.
Realizing that due to the rising cost of gas (plane tickets, etc.) and other expenses this trip will cost up to $1800 per person. For many of us this is of major concern. While some of the expenses will be off set by aid from Global Ministry and Endowment funds we feel that fund raising may still be needed. If you should feel led to give support to those going on this mission trip, contributions may be made to the Guatemala Mission Trip Fund (017-04-01-22)
Disaster Recovery Team, November 1-8, 2008
Presbytery is sending a disaster recovery team of 25 people to the Orange Grove PDA Camp at Gulfport, MS. If you are interested in being a participant in this hurricane recovery effort, please contact Pat Norris (Global Missions Ministry) at 685-1076. These teams are very popular and fill up fast so please contact her as soon as possible.
