On June 8 and June 22, the Immigration Team of League of Women Voters of Henderson County will be presenting the program “The Long and Winding Road to Citizenship”. For further information about the League, their website is https://lwvhcnc.org/


The Immigration Team works to educate and advocate in our community on issues such as DACA, hate rhetoric, unaccompanied minor children, human trafficking, and uncertainty of deportations. They support our vibrant local immigrant population along with our friends and community partners.


The overall view of the current legal process to become a citizen and a brief review of the status of DACA (Deferred Arrivals of Childhood} will be presented by Marcella Lesher, Team Leader for the League’s Immigration Team.


  • June 8 - the program will focus on the status of DACA recipients and the need for federal legislation. Come to learn the stories of an individual who represents DACA.


  • June 22 - the program will include the story of the experiences of an individual who recently completed the long and winding road to becoming a citizen.



Time for Q & A will be available each evening as well as handouts.
